73 Chall and 11 GT
« on: December 14, 2014 - 10:49:08 AM »
Time for me to share...Here's a shot of my 73 Challenger and my wife's 11 GT
What the Challenger WAS:
73 Top Banana with white vinyl top, black interior, and stripe delete
Rallye, 318 / 904, column shift, 3.55 and a/c so it got the 26" radiator

Purchased it as an unfinished build in late 2005, with fresh paint and with most of the trim in the trunk
Background:  I loved my 71 383 RT high school car, and this is the American way, re-livin it, but a lot smarter...  :naughty:
Interestingly, Rallye cars after 71 came with the same diameter torsion bars as 71 383 cars

What my Challenger is NOW:
73 Top Banana, black top, black interior, mock 71 RT stripe (previous owners choice, but ok)
70 383 and 727 - 902 heads (74' only), Lunati 302 cam (now the 702), Dougs hdrs, M1 DP and Holley 750 to HO specs
Changed column shift to console slapstik (gotta love the ebay sellers)
Improved disc brakes, and Sanden A/C compressor
1-1/8 front sway bar and KYBs keep her pretty square  :swaying:
Tried to keep a combination 71-73 look under the hood, using the 73 340 trap-door breather

Drove the 2013 HotRod Power Tour part way in 2013 - 1832 miles  .... here's my long video on that...
Update 2/27/15 - updated the video link after I reposted a new file - youtube was really messing with it in their "take out the shaky video" option: what a mess.   :swaying: Better now...  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTjV6jskuzw

do enjoy

Today I added the relay bypass trick to the headlamps, reducing the switch and long wire high-amp loads, and added two 15 amp fuses to drive the headlamps.  I built a box for a fuse bus bar and the relays, and hid it all under the battery tray.   Headlights are definitely brighter at idle and the rest of the lights seem a bit brighter too.  Just went around the block once, so no run time on this yet.  Picked up the guidance over on the A-bodies site, and most appreciate the posts.  So far, so good.

Yeh, she wanted an affordable vert and I managed to convince her that 400+ hp was not such a bad thing.  Ford finally got one right with the 5.0 development, and I'd love to have that 6-speed auto in the Challenger.   But enough of the brand F distraction, sorry....   :grinno:

Nice looking Chally, and great video.  The Tour is on my list when (if) they get a little closer to CO.

Nice ride, my first Challenger was a 73 Rallye - only a 318 but still got miles of smiles  :2thumbs:

Great video, thanks for the share
