1970 Barracuda 1/4 panel scoops
« on: May 03, 2005 - 07:46:57 PM »
Having owned a car that came equipped with this option.
Doe's any 1 else out here own a 70 barracuda equipped with the M46 simulated 1/4 panel scoops.
I also owned an N O S pair back around 1990 , when I finally decided to part with they a couple years later, thay were hard to sell..

Maybe  T/A  can shed some insight from cars in his registry .

For the record. Of all the 1970 Barracuda s built.

The foolowing came eqipped with the M46 option.

8 cly coupe  -  0.4  %
8 cly hardtop - 2.3  %
8 cly convertible - 1.8 %

They are unusual, I only have five Barracudas with M46 registered so far. In addition to the scoops, the lower body was blacked out and there were colored pin stripes over the mask line. Very cool cars, and odd that the scoops were not available on Cuda's too.

I do not believe that I have any photos, but I will take a look......

Are they the same as the ones at the bottom of this link?  These are listed for Challengers - any pics of them on these maybe?

Yeah to mud, & also dampness, water, road salt, leaves, twigs & whatever else a shop vac scoop can pick up. I was definitely curious as to what they looked like, but now after seeing them, I don't like it much. I like the Challenger quarter scoops much better. I do like the finned, chrome trim, that goes in the same spot on the A-Body Barracudas.

Oz, those scoops are the quarter panel scoops used on a '71 Challenger R/T.  They actually fit on the quarter panel between the wheel well opening and the door.

As for those rocker scoops, I've never seen a car equipped with those.  Definitely different.

I have a 1970 barracuda with M46 scoops.  I have not started the restore yet but do have it in primer.

I would also like to see a Picture of a correctly painted Barracuda with this option.

I have had several Barracuda's and Cuda's.

I had never seen one with this option before I purchased it a few years ago.

This is what we are talkin about the scoop on the quarter panel.
I have yet to find any GOOD pics of this scoop acutally restored. I am in the process of restoring this barracuda and need to know about how to stripe the bottom. Also this barracuda has a blacked out rear panel like the cuda does shown here.

So if anyone has any pics or information it would be greatly appreciated.
