So are  you saying the 74's used the hanger bolted to the shock cross member on both sides?

If a car had single exhaust would the mounting provisions for dual exhaust be on the cross member of would the cross member be different?

I guess I will jack up the car tonight and see what I can find.

I guess that explains why I do not have the recesses or the dimples in the floors for the early style brackets.

I really wish I had know this before I bought two hangers for the early style brackets at moparfest!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh well.

You'll see a flat portion in the floor where the brackets will go.....except of course, if the 74 has a different floor pan too... :smilielol:

Ok...looks like I have the provisions for both hangers on the crossmember.

Passenger side, used for single exhaust.

Driver side, looks to have both holes, the second bolt hole is already in use for the exhaust hanger:

So I guess I need to look for the correct brackets and probably fab up the mounts for the driver side, I am sure that piece is not repoped.

I think I see the flat portion on both sides of the floor, but no dimples,  so I guess I could mount the early style brackets, but I am not sure.

update: I was able to install my 2 1/2" exhaust using the original mounting brackets.
I did have to make new clamps to go around the bigger exhaust, but I shaped them to
look exactly like the originals. Fits like it should.

And a factory drawing of the 1974 360 dual exhaust.
