My full restoration progress, complete 72 Cuda restoration

So now that things are coming together now that all the parts are finally here, I guess I post the past progress from 4 months ago until now. This is my 72 Cuda, that's gone under the knife with a full restoration. In short, the car was a 340 car, I pulled the engine and transmission out, wrapped it up and put on a pallet to store at my business. Bought a 440 and had it build and stroked and added an 8-71 with the rest of the engine goodies. All fresh paint custom interior, stock dash removed and a custom dash going in with all Autometer gauges. Suspension is a complete ride tech air bag system with the 4 link rear.  There is a lot more but I will continue to post pictures and more information as it's going on. Cheers

Also that is my restored 66 Charger behind the motor picture. I like Yellow. Lol. And also the drums are coming off with discs on the Cuda, obviously.

Also note, the paint and body went through a full job last year, but some asshole thought it would be a cool idea to key the entire passenger side of the car in July. I was so pissed and upset. So I decided to have then just redo it again that needed to be done.

Update without pictures. Fuel system and fuels lines were put into today. Thank god I'm doing this all right the first time and not skipping any corners on parts or installation, but damn this is getting expensive. With parts, paint, engine, etc I'm about 60k into it. I think my next restore will be a Chevelle. Lool

Now it's out with the old and the new will be going on. Can't wait for the suspension to be done, and start on the fuel system and drop the motor in

It's been a while, after dropping the rear for the air bags, the trunk pan was in bad shape and we we to replace it. That's all finally done after all the work and now the motor is complete. For some reason, non of the damn blower pulleys and the March pulleys wanted to work together. So we could a GM alternator other things for it to work.

But, I'm now selling my 8-71 to go ahead and buy a 10-71. Nothing wrong and zero hours since being overhauled. $1500

Oh, the truck pan all welded ins added extra support the the air bag tank and the battery relocation to the trunk.. I just hope the car is done for the August shoot for the magazine. Charger is done, now just need to finish this pain in the ass

Some updated progress. Got the trunk all welded and sealed, new gas tank mounted and now installing and adjusting the rear air ride and rear end

How are you mounting the air bags?  It looks like you have an extra upper mounting bracket in the rear...that's good.  You need a strong mount because the stock shock x-member is very weak.  Air shocks can break the stock mount.  I don't see an extra mount up front though.  The factory upper shock mount was never meant to hold the weight of the car.  You will have problems if you don't reinforce that area.  Mounting the bag to that upper mount would probably work for a race car but I doubt it will hold up on the street.  You'll probably see some cracking/bending of the inner fender.  I'd hate for something to happen after all your hard work.

The air bag switches mounted and wired in. Had a stereo shop make the panel for me and snaps into the spot where the ash tray was



New gauges and assembly. Can't wait to finally drive this damn thing.
