    2 types of W2 heads

    Rumor has it that there are 2 types of W2 heads? What is the difference? Can you tell by casting numbers? What kind of $$ could a person pay for a pair complete used W2?

    There were three levels of W2 heads Econo standard & race... Econo took standard length valves & springs & had cast in rocker stands.. Standard I honestly don't recall the specifics of but I know it was in the catalog & race had long valves & pads for mounting rocker stands...

    Then there was w5's with so many options...

    72 Cuda, owned 25 years. 496, with ported Stage VI heads, .625 in solid roller, 254/258 at .050, 3500 stall, 3.91 rear. 850 Holley DP, Reverse manual valve body.

    1999 Trans Am, LS1, heads, cam, headers, stall, etc! Love to surprise the rice rockets with this one. They seem so confident, then it's "what the heck just happened?"

    There are newer W2 heads as well , I had 2-3 sets of the latest castings which make serious power , I recall they were around $800 / casting new

    Batten Performance and Diamond Performance also made an aluminum version of W2s back in the late 70s, early 80s. These aren't real common to find and they tended to have a number of issues with them. They have since morphed into the Indy 360-1 and  360-2 offered by Indy Cylinder Head.
