Don't Ask Me How I Know...
« on: May 04, 2005 - 10:01:19 AM »
Red and I have spent a lot of time in the garage over the past four months.  After listening to any style music on the radio for more than 2 weeks, you get pretty tired of hearing the same songs over and over again.  So we cruise around the stations and listen to something new every couple of weeks....oldies, new stuff...and the most recent...country.  We heard a song on there that just cracked me up called "Don't Ask Me How I Know".  You country lovers out there know what I'm talking about.   It talks about lessons he's learned throughout his life like....don't jump your bike off a ramp that's more than three bricks high...don't pick up a cherry bomb, thinking it's a dud, etc., etc.  Anyway, I thought it be fun to tell of our own learned life lessons.  I'll start, of course...

While wearing a tight t-shirt over a bikini bathing suit...don't try to take the t-shirt off in public  :eekbig:

Probably my most embarassing moment was when I was a tech at a dealership.  I was having girlfriend problems at the time and didn't really have my mind on what I was doing.  I rotated the tires and checked the brakes on a customer's car and took for a test drive.  About a half block away, I saw the left rear wheel pass me and go across 2 on-coming lanes of traffic to the sidewalk on the other side.  :o  I limped the car into the next driveway, collected the tire and lugnuts that were scattered on the pavement and walked back to the shop to get a jack.  Unbelievably, nothing was damaged and the customer never knew.  Luckily, this happened to me instead of the customer!

Don't ask me how I know, but it's a good idea to double check lugnuts before driving!   :grinyes:

I can see this is going to be a good one....

Don't ask me how I know:

Gas takes forever to wash out of your mouth,

There is a huge diff between tightening something to 40 foot pounds as opposed to 40 inch pounds,

If you have kids, put top dollar on it, they will get into the last thing you want them in.

Life lesson:  though cars really appreciate gasoline, I don't when I get it in my mouth. :puke:  I was in small engines class at school doing some work right up close to my Tecumseh 5.0 hp from a go cart.  Well, I was pulling the fuel hose off the gas tank, thought I had the petcock turned off, but apparently it wasn't cause I managed to get a good mouthful in my mouth and a lot of my face.  Talk about a bad day.... :ack:

Thankfully, not many people carry cameras as they're floating down the Chattahoochee River.  Don't ask me how I know...

To read the sign on the restroom door before entering.(See the it's all about the stars thread in the test section).

To make sure you aren't wearing a see-thru bathing suit in High School swimming class.(I had sarcastic classmates). A special thanks to Mom for buying it.  :stomp: :stomp: :stomp:

To never hold a piece of metal in your hand while you are trying to drill a hole in it with a drill press.  (instant bloodbath)

To make sure when you spit, it has cleared your body. (leaves a nice display on ones chest) Again, a special thanks to my classmates for pointing out said fact.

Don't close the car door on your fingers - especially when the car door has been locked.

Doing beer bongs while being held upside down gets you drunk even faster.

Dont ask me how I know:

Dont cut out a 6" long section of main waterline to put in a sprinkler system until you are absolutely positive your main water line is not some off size 13/16" military surplus pipe that is no longer available and there are no couplings made to fix it.    :eeksmall:

Yes it took DAYS to fix

Pick up tubes should be throughly gasketed and doubled checked before gas is added to the gas tank... :banghead:

Brake lines make EXCELLENT grounding points.... :burn:

And I'm sure there's MORE that I'm missing...

It is not wise to accellerate through a turn on a gravel road in a front wheel drive vehicle.

Do not try to look for the blockage in a caulk tube and press the trigger on the caulk gun at the same time.  :outtahere:
