8 3/4  with 741 dropout housing (least desireable of the 3 housings )

What can i use for a better housing or gear etc, why is this the least desirable Thanks Terry. this is i asume not a posi  #,s

 When I say its the least desirable its only because it is the smallest of the pinion diasmeters and gear selection is almost nil. Actually I have a 741 with posi and it hasnt caused me any problems ....yet The 489 (tapered pinion ) and the 472 are supposedly better but if you aren't building for gobs of HP you will get along fine with it. To be honest I have puked one of each so its just a roll of the dice

the casting #s have no bearing on wether it is or is not a sure grip diff
