« on: December 31, 2014 - 06:54:31 PM »
This may have been brought up before but has anyone installed Yearone aluminum Rallye wheels  17x8 front and 17x9 rear On an E body? What width tires work best with a stock suspension?

The rallye's have a 4.5" backspace on the 17x8's and a 5" backspace on the 17x9's.

I have 17x9's with a 5" backspace on all 4 corners with 275/40/17's front and rear on my Challenger. They're not rallye's but they have the same specs. Those will fit with the stock suspension. In the back you might try to find a 275/45/17, but there really isn't much out there in that size.

A 275 is the widest you'll be able to run on a 9" rim, and a 255 is the biggest you'll get on the 8", so pretty much anything that will fit the rims will fit the car as long as you don't go much taller than 26" in the front. Rear can take up to 28" tall without issue.

Can't say what works best but I switched from stock Rallies to year one 17x8 front and 17x9 rear.
245/45R17 front and 275/40R17 Rears. Front and rear both measure 25.7" tall.
My avatar pic is with 245/60R14's all around. The sig pic is the Year One 17's
Tires are Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 Ultra High Performance Summer "W" speed rated.

Thanks for the info! I wasn't aware that the 9" wheels would fit on the front.

@cudaragtop Is there room for a taller tire in the back? I'd like to use a 45 if possible.

See 72bluNblu's previous comment. His information on this subject is very complete.
No 275/45-17 when I was shopping tires. There are 275/50-17 tires, they would be close to 28" tall.
Taller than I wanted... I prefer a close to level very slight rake and if I choose to carry spare, one size works front or rear since they are the same diameter.

The rallye's have a 4.5" backspace on the 17x8's and a 5" backspace on the 17x9's.

Jegs!  :2thumbs: I got a pair of blems on clearence. We had them powder coated Black so were not too concerned over a small blem. Could only find a tiny blem on one of them. Was able to smooth it out before PC.

@Cudaragtop, Did you do anything to your suspension or it's stock?  Also, do you have more pics?  I never thought about changing out the stock rallye wheels but now I'm considering???  Thanks.

Stock suspension. New leaf springs stock height HD from ESPO springs & Things.

The last picture is before changing to Year One Wheels. Just using up some of that old rubber.
New Ultra High Performance Tires are the way to go. That is if you like to Stop, Go and Corner.
I sold the full set of rallye wheels for $100 bucks and never looked back.

Right click the picture and "Open image in new tab" and it will open resized to the Tab.

Thanks for the sharing the pics.  Amazing, those Year Ones definitely make the car look more bad ass and updated.  She's beautiful!
