E-body Hydraulic strut trunk lift kit
« on: January 09, 2015 - 08:17:54 PM »
I am in the process of making a small inventory of some Trunk strut lift kits for Hardtop Barracudas and Challengers.... There will be everything you need to convert the factory torsion bar set up for anyone looking to upgrade. They will be attached to the rear crossbrace behind the rear seat. (the picture shows it welded to my roll bar on my car) There will be different sized cylinders for Cuda Vrs Challenger also either with wing spoilers. I am about 80% done with the prototypes and waiting for parts and some install feedback before they will be available . Mark ( Roadman5312) and myself will be doing some installation analysis before these can be released. Here is a video of the action of trunk strut kit on my cuda  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YT62ROQe7ms&feature=youtu.be

I like it, keep us posted if they come to market. I have a 71 resto-mod Cuda project that they would be a nice addition to :2thumbs:

I like the idea and design. It's good.

What concerns me is it's longetivity.

Both my camper shell and her hood struts failed.
Neighbor said his hood struts failed as well.

how long can they be expected to last?

Great Questions..  As soon as I get the hardtop kits finished and out for a while and, Since I don't have a convertible here, I may have a member do some R&D to see how much more difficult in will be.  Topcat , This is true , All hydraulic struts wear out over time, The first thing I decided was to source quality struts with about 10% to 20% more lbs than required , this way if they leak out over time and still have the correct pressure . I did this mod on my AAR clone back in 2005 and still worked like they were new in 2010 when I sold it  , Those that are in the video have been in my car for 3 years ,After field testing them ,I feel like they are of decent quality. I can try get with the manufacturer and see if they offer a warranty . As of now Monday Jan 12th , I am still waiting on parts . Hopefully I can have the first prototype for the Challenger sent out this week .

John how many inches do the new mounts extend behind the mounting point? the problem with verts is the top sits so close back there they may not clear.

Hi Scott, I was thinking the same. It extends 3 inches ... the top will probably interfere.
