MSD location

Considering moving my MSD module off the firewall and into the trunk. Has anybody experienced any ignition issues caused by long run of wire between ECU and distributor?

I moved my MSD along with my battery to the trunk of my '71 Challenger and had no issues at all.

Got mine under the battery tray, no issues with the 6 box , but the 7 box does not like heat.

I mounted it in the corner of the trunk on the drivers side.  Then I mounted the battery to the inside to hide the MSD box.  The other part mounted there is my brake booster vacuum pump.  I ran all wiring through a loom out of the trunk through a drain plug, inside the rear quater panel, along the frame rail, up through the splash guard in the front inner fender into the engine bay.  I ended up moving the starter relay down to the lower corner of the firewall to further hide the wiring, and ran all necessary wiring on the firewall through a black loom.

I have put it under the dash, next to the radio, which I don't use.

Here is what I did, have a shut off and the ford style solenoid on the bracket as well

Mine is hidden under the dash, behind the instrument lights by the emergency brake, then I ran the wires out with the wiring.

If the battery is back there it's not a big deal.  The only concern I'd have is length of run for the msd power and ground wires.  I'd go overkill on sizing the wire if the MSD is in the trunk and battery up front.

Good thing, msd 6 style boxes only draw about 1 amp per 1K rpm.

I guess MSD must have extra long distrib hookups otherwise it would be a pain to make one that long.
