Here's a shot of the wheel and how close it is the the q panel lip. I think the car is up in the air in this pic.

I went with Nitto 255/50/17's on the front and 275/50/17's on the rear.  I had to roll the lip on the front and rears, and add leaf so it wouldn't rub.  The front passenger tire would barely nick the frame at full wheel lock to the right.  The wheels are TT II's.

Dfrazz, What size wheels you running on the rear? and what offset?

I am happy with the 235/45-17's I have on the front. They don't rub and fit fine. I want to change the rear's to 18's and get as wide of a tire as possible without rubbing or have to trim anything (with stock spring setup).

Thanks to all who have pitched in. Keep'em coming if you have any more.

Cheers!

Would 18x9, 5" backspace, with 275/40/18 tires fit both front and rear w/ stock suspension?   I've read in the wheel/tire combo thread that 17x9 with 275/40/17 works, wonder if +1" would work as well.

The rears are Nitto 275/50/17's on TT II's 17x8 with 5.5" backspace.  I had to roll the lip and add a leaf to the springs.

FRAZZ, what leaf did you add, original? Why did you have to add the leaf, rubbing a the top of the wheel well?
Thanks,
Mickm

Yes original, but my springs were stock height to begin with so if you are getting new springs try +1.  The outside wall of the tire was rubbing on the inner quarter when I hit even a slight bump.  The tires looked bada$$ but were the absolute widest you can fit on 17" wheel.

I ride on stock suspension with 18 x 9" tires.
Like it or not, I have 2" adapters that allow me to run these with positive offset. They are nearly a 1/2" from the  wheel lip- a more modern wheel to body appearance.
I rolled my front fender lips and had to trim the lower forward corner off of the left fender.
The rear- I didn't need to do any trim op, or rolled edge.
Hope this helps!

Dfrazz I like the look. I have never ran a bigger wheel like that with power. How they hook?
Its just a little 340 with a miss

The Nitto's are so sweet!  I had a stroked 408 with 495 TQ and 465 HP and could hit it and were gone!  I could feel it break loose a little loose in the corners and then the tires would just catch.  I would buy Nitto's again in this size and make the mods to the springs to make them fit.

Yep. 2" spacers front and rear.
No rubbing or contact on the rear...yet. Just a note: I haven't taken this car auto crossing.
This is the first year I've really been driving it.
One thing I notice with the wheels/spacers: there is a lot of inspiring weight on the corners of the car.
While driving over pot hole ridden roads, I notice a lot of wander of the steering. Probably an effect of The drag link/ pitman arm steering technology ...

Eventually I plan on dropping the car 2", and run some heavier duty suspension mods/sway bars. Sure would be nice to have rack n pinion.
