Valve Stem wear new Hemi
« on: January 13, 2015 - 09:32:17 PM »
Has anyone heard or experienced any pre-mature wear on 5.7 valve stems?
I have a 5.7 take out from a 2012 Ram with 12K on it. I am using for a restomod and my engine guy has it doing some work on it. He said the valve stems were showing wear like maybe they weren't hardened enough.
Putting new valves in it since it is apart. Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

what does the corresponding guide look like?
Oiling problem???

Here's some talk about some valve trian issues, though no mention of valve stems.

many discussions on web about 5.7 Hemi valve train issues, with inadequate
oiling being a common cause.  I'd use synthetic oil so it will flow quicker to valvetrain
on startups.

Thanks cudabob. Will be running only synthetic in engine when I get it back.

Thanks cudabob. Will be running only synthetic in engine when I get it back.

Just don't want to use it for breakin oil. Otherwise, great stuff!
