'71 440 6pak

I know a person selling a "71 440 6 pak motor. Rebuilt, stock, with one summer of use. I know nothing about the guy(s) who rebuilt it. It is still in the car at the moment so potential buyers can hear it run. Any ideas on value?

Without the original car or taking the engine apart I would look at the harmonic balancer and assembly date code on engine, but it can still be a 70 or 71 440 Magnum with six pack setup added.   If its an A12 engine then it will have the regular balancer so the engine assembly date would be critical but not conclusive. A12's also have the letter E stamped on the pad for 69.  Must also have HP stamping.

Wow. Didn't think it would be worth THAT much. As for confirmation of it being a six pak motor, as yet I have just word of mouth. We all know how that can sometimes end up.
I just thought there would be some kind of identifying mark on it somewhere.

Wait a second, I thought it was either just a 340 block or a 340 T/A block.  Now your saying they stamped an E and HP on a 340 block if it was specifically assembled for a 6-barrel?  How could the block manufacturers know what intake was going on it?  Mine has the number 2780930-340-7 and a date of 7-14-69 but I don't see an E or HP.  Where would these letters be on the block?
