1970 Plymouth Barracuda
« on: January 20, 2015 - 06:27:19 PM »
Description:

This 1970 Hemi Cuda 528 Hemi 610hp started as a  Grand Coupe. It was stripped and then the restoration process was started, which took 2 yrs to complete. EVERYTHING was either replaced or rebuilt including the engine compartment, which now houses a Crate 528 Hemi Motor. From there back, everything is heavy duty. A special torque converter, 727 torque flite with Manual Shift Kit and 8 3/4 rear end with sure grip 3:23 gears and heavy duty bearings were installed. Brand new US mags and Dunlop tires were added. The interior was gutted including all the gauges. Everything was rebuilt with new interior done in Black with Red Velour Accents. The trunk was restored with original jack and spare tire. Finally, the exterior was painted a beautiful VIPER RED and all the chrome was then replaced with precision. Attached to the MONSTER 528 engine are Sanderson Headers, 3 inch exhaust and Flowmaster Muffler System. For more info on this great piece of American History, please call Chris Parks at 2534480226. Howdy Chris!  Nice lookin Cuda you have there.

By chance, did this car retain it's broadcast sheet or fender tag?
What was it's original color?

You might want to drop in at the newbies welcome wagon.  It'll get you some more talking about your car.

Or a V code BP.

Wouldn't that be something. I'd be interested in buying it right now.  Just out of rarities sake.

You're right Alan, they never made a 440 Grand Coupe.  If this was one, it would be the first and most likely only one ever made.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

This may help answer the original motors available in the Gran Coupe.

I'm not entirely sure how we should interpret the info on this chart. The chart says that the 335 hp 383 and the bulge hood are both NA on a Barracuda, mine came with both and other stuff not normally found on non-Cuda cars. It was special ordered so maybe that is the difference.

Interesting ... but how would you differentiate the 330hp from the 335hp on a FT or BS?? They would both be coded E63 wouldn't they?

I've seen this discussion rage around concerning Road Runners but I don't recall anything conclusive from it ...
Cheers!

If the numbers run in sequence, his car was built 3 ahead of mine. Mine is BP23NOE108758.

Yes, Holley -335, Carter 330, Shaker made no difference.. I believe that the valve springs were different too.. I researched this a few years back...

Yes, the same cam used in a 440, windage tray, valve springs with dampers.... all 335hp engines were orange with HP stamped on it and came with Holley's...
The 330hp was rated at 5000rpm & the 335hp was rated at 5200rpm.....

Sorry for adding-on the "for sale" post...
