70 slap stick shifter chrome shaft below handle knob
« on: January 25, 2015 - 11:41:13 PM »
Hello everyone,
I need the round chrome shaft cover that goes below the slap stick shifter knob and goes through the black plastic plate. I'm putting a pistol grip shifter on and the assembly I bought did not come with it.

Does it just slide on? and are all the slapstick shifter rectangular under the chrome?

Can you post up a picture of what you bought please.
Sounds like you may have a handle that is specific to fit on to a 1970  Slap-Stick mechanism. This is a unique shifter and does not have any way of the round shaft being removed, it is all an integral part of the shifter itself. The other style of Slap-Stick mechanism has an oblong shaft, sort of like a flat piece of steal but with round ends on the front and rear edges of the main shaft, this style takes what is more commonly known as a T-handle. 1970 and 1974 used the round ball style mechanism, and 1971-1972-1973 and some of 1974 used the T-handle style mechanism. :2thumbs:

It looks like I may have the t-handle type shifter and a round type bezel.

I was hoping to use this handle on there but it doesn't look like it will work now.

They aren't? Will any of that stuff work for a 70 Challenger?   :banghead:
