Hello Everyone!
« on: January 29, 2015 - 06:36:22 PM »
My wife and I just received delivery this morning of our baby:  1970 Challenger (A66 pkg).  As I am sure is not too unusual, we said screw it, found a Challenger we liked, drove 7 hours, bought it, and waited 3 sleepless night until delivery.   ;)

We are +/- 50, so we are at the cusp of the end of the muscle car era.  My dad had a '68 Charger I do remember very well ... perhaps why my parents tell me that my very first word ever uttered was: "car" ....  :ylsuper:

I learned about cars and engines (60's - 70's models) working on them, fixing up ones I (or buddies) broke, and re-building a couple along the way ... but haven't done that seriously in 20 years .... so am a bit rusty ... and (go easy  :) ) they were mostly Pontiacs.

Dream was always a vintage Challenger or Charger ... so here we are!

Looking forward to joining the Mopar community, learning some good stuff along the way, and having a blast with the '70 Challenger!!!

Welcome to the site and you've already heard about photos! Being a Tin Indian guy is kinda like being a Mopar guy, in that neither got much respect from the Chevy guys- until we whomped 'em. Good luck with your new "baby".

Wecome and congrats on the Challenger! Same here, worked on cars most of the 80's, not much more until a few years ago. Lots to learn now, but with the internet and this great forum its way easier nowadays.

Welcome aboard from the Left Coast
Let's get some pics up, 70's are sweet

"There's no such thing as putting a '70 AAR 'Cuda exactly where you want it. The 'Cuda isn't interested in such things, for they require finesse. Finesse asked the 'Cuda out to dinner once, but the 'Cuda stood it up to go drink beer under an overpass with her hot little sister. As far as this car is concerned, finesse can go stuff itself."

Thanks for all kind words .... and from those  :canada: .... my wife is from up there!

I've got a few pics I have from where we picked her up.  Will try to get some more over weekend ... so damn cold here in VA ... and it reminded it takes a few minutes for that heavy weight trans to warm up ...  :lol2: ... but amazing how she runs in 20 degree weather .... sweet .... not completely original (tranny and rear end not) - and engine is a 340 (which it came with .. have to check numbers on block) stroked to 413 ... but rest is with check of the numbers, manufactured codes, etc

Oh - quick question.

I found some information re: the R/T badges on front grille and trunk lid.  Supposedly the 383 '70 R/T came standard with the A66 package.  "Legend" has it, when some 340 A66 were built, they were mistakenly given the R/T badges as this one reflects.  Assembly line QA error .. I guess ...

Is there any validity to this?  I found several articles, etc. from people who seem to have some knowledge of the era ... from different sources ... so it seems plausible.

And was explanation I was given as to why this resto was done that way.

Thanks  :)

That black stripe on the blue look incredible!    :cooldancing:

When you get a chance post your rear tire sizes, assuming those are 15x7" rallye wheels.
