Handiest tool in shop, what's yours ?
« on: February 04, 2015 - 03:42:43 PM »
I have to say that my Thread Checker saves me lots of time. I hate metric fasteners, but many parts you buy today for old cars now use metric fasteners. I bought this at our local hardware store for 45 bucks (little pricy )  but it saves me tons of time.  :2thumbs:

Gawd! There are so many that I can't do without, from my 1/2" impact to my plasma cutter to my mig welder to my cut-off tool. But I suppose if I have to pick just one it would be my floor jack. It lifts higher than any other I have found, it is bulletproof, and built right. This is the 2nd one of this brand (Ausco) that I have had. The first one only lasted for 25+ years under heavy commercial shop use, by every careless person in the shop. This one is almost as old and just as abused, but I bought it used from my Snap-on man who took it on trade. Sure wish I could find another one

I'd say my Bridgeport mill if I had to pick just one. Mig welder sure has paid for itself 10 fold though.

#2 philips head screwdriver, followed by a 1/2" wrench  :cooldancing:
I have several of each!

Forgot to add that I am a building contractor, so I have to fight the urge to use my BFH which I love so much

Probably my swiss army knife !! Anyone that knows me knows how often I use it & I have worn out a few of them !
I have a lot of very useful tools & had a degree wheel & dial gauge all the time to dial in cams , welder , die grinder to port heads has hours of abuse !!

Seems to always get used to see something better.

My bench mounted vice.  I couldn't imagine my garage without it.  I like that thread checker though and would like to have one myself.

Well I'm going with my air compressor . . . I know I would definitely miss it if I didn't have one . . . . from sand blasting to running all the air tools to filling up the tires.  When it gives out, I will waste no time getting another . . . .  :grinyes:
