Rear Diff Pinion Sealer
« on: February 05, 2015 - 06:07:40 PM »
Hi everyone.

For those that have rebuilt their rear diff, did you apply some kind of sealer to the pinion seal to prevent leaks between the diff casting and the seal?  If so, what type of sealer did you use?  I've read that in a 1970 shop manual to apply sealer to the casting and seal to prevent it from leaking.

Thanks!

I always use a small bead of ultra black. Yamalube is also a good one to use to.
Its just a little 340 with a miss

I never have sealed it there but if I were to I would use some Permatex form-a-gasket (the black gooey stuff)
