Drove to My dads house and picked up the Cuda he gave me. He told me a little more history on the car. I always thought he was the one that bought it new, but turns out his best friend bought it. My dad worked on the car and raced it. He built another engine for the car around '75 and pulled the original. The original was then sold to my uncle, who put it in his 318, 3 on the tree charger. They continued to race the car until about '81, when the best friend sold the car. The guy who bought the car swapped out the cam in the engine, and when he tried to start it locked up the motor. He thought he had trashed it, so he stripped the deck lid with the go wing, window louvers, drivers side fender and drivers side door panel, and put them on a 318 Cuda. Because he thought that he had ruined the engine, my dad traded a Kawasaki 900 motorcycle for the car in '85. The cam that he installed had too much lift, and had bottomed out on the springs and wouldn't let it turn. My dad changed the cam and played with the car a couple more years, but it has been sitting since 1990.
The Charger that has the original motor to my car hasn't been driven since the motor was put in it in the mid 70's. The car had a ton of issues. The motor on the other hand was started on occasion, and still runs today. It is still standard bore. My Uncle passed last year, and his wish was that I get the motor back for my car. My dad ended up with the charger, so I will go back in a couple of weeks to pick it up. The heads had been swapped for one reason or another, but my dad gave me the original ones that I will pick up when I get the motor. The tranny for it is in his dart, but we are swapping it out so I can reunite it with the Cuda.
