There is one for sale here http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=104561.0 if he hasn't sold it already. Your bezel is better but you might be able to change out the sliding piece.

Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but thats for the same handle that I already have and not the round hole in the sliding piece for the '70? Year one sells just the sliding plate, but I can't find it for '70, only '71-'74

Yes it is. I didn't realize you were changing the handle.

I believe I have a 70 E-body style shifter, and I am needing a 71 style like you have. Maybe we can do a swap. I will post a picture of it tomorrow evening in this thread so the E-body experts can verify it is correct for your car. Thanks! Scott.

Sweet car!    Even better story.  Have you checked with your dads best friend for things like window stickers and original documentation?

I'll follow along.

OK, here are the pictures of the shifter I have. It came with a 71 Satellite parts car that I bought and dismantled. I have been told by a few B-body guys that this is for E bodies - so let the experts over here confirm that. I am curious if the linkage for the E-bodies and the B-bodies are the same. PM me if you are interested. Thanks, Scott.

That is a 1974 E Body shifter. It does not have the "Slap Stik" feature, although it's very close in appearance  :2cents:

He passed away in 1998, I really don't think he would have held onto back then. They were pretty rough on the car and only bought it to run it hard. I've heard horror stories about it bouncing of a 'Vette on Oklahoma City. When he passed he still had a piece of 'Vette fiberglass hanging on his wall as a trophy.

I appreciate it, but I think I am going to put a new slide in it and just change the handle. The shifter itself is really clean with no pitting so I had to get rid of it.

Alan, are you saying that the Slap Stik shifter wasn't available in 74 or the shifter console didn't say "SlapStik"?

That is my belief, but I'm no expert when it comes to 73-74 stuff...

Um, you confused me. No Slap Stik function OR just doesn't say Slap Stik on the shifter console? I ask because my 74 has Slap Stik but it doesn't say it. I'm just wondering what was original.
