10.5 flywheel
« on: February 08, 2015 - 04:07:33 PM »
I have a flywheel that has a casting number of 2264598.I know that this flywheel was used in many engines  and i want to use it on my 383.I see there are 3/8 holes drilled in the flange next to the ring gear. I cant remember what holes were drilled for a cast crank. seems like the holes were drilled in the space where the crank bolt holes are. Can anyone help?

That is where it was balanced neutral I believe.  Like on a balancer. Cast flywheels have a different way of balance

What did it come off of? Just curious  6 cyl wont bolt up

Hello Moparal,
thanks for the reply. I also thought that this was a neutral balance. I have been out of the loop for awhile and I want to make sure i'm right. i'm not sure what it came out of but I have a 70-73 parts manual and this number fit 273-440. It skipped the 6cyl,360,and hemi. I am putting this behind a pretty strong 383 and I don't need any wrong parts installed. Thanks for putting my mind at ease.

you could always spin it up & see if it balances even a wheel balancer will give you a reading on it .
They had different patterns for drilled holes on the back side for different applications in the Mopar engine book that can be referenced as well but it soulds like it should be neutral balance
