Looking good.  I've seen some of those gold or copper ones and they look cool.  I did a detail grey from Eastwood to simulate steel but my brake calipers are silver and steering is black.  I've installed the spindles for temporary fitting of other work I need to do.  I can take some pictures for you if you'd like.

So I got my qa1 struts and they are a metallic gold. Much different than the shade of gold I painted my lca's so now it looks just plain stupid.  :banghead:Might try to find a different shade but if I can't, should I go silver or black? What do
you think?


I got the same color LCAs, a bit darker maybe, painted my struts gray metal first, didn't look good so I changed them to black, that always work. But since yours are probably plated, you might not wanna paint them. Sure it looks bad? Post a picture. Maybe add a darker coat to the LCA's? 


Now my wife asks what I'm doing on the computer, I tell her, and she just shakes her head and says "big manproblems!"  :grinno:

Here is  mine for reference? I used VHT engine paint if that helps?

Got a lot done this weekend:
 K frame assembled:


Steering column pulled to install new bearing and rebuild coupler:


My steering colum wiring looks like it was hacked in the past, what is the yellow wire for?


Started bodywork on the engine bay:


And this weekends casualty...don't buy a vise from harbor freight. Broke when pressing out the steering shaft pin into a socket to slide on a new bearing...

Did the er16 bearing upgrade on my steering shaft. That lower pin in the shaft is a bear to get out. The bearing itself needed some grinding and some persuasion with a hammer but it fits really well now. Great upgrade over stock and cheap!

Yellow wire is part of the A01 light package. It powers the timer delay light that shines on the ignition switch. :2cents:

Great to know, thank you! Any idea what may have been spliced into it? When is that wire hot? I didn't cut the orange wire, it was like that...

It was probably plugged into the A01 dash harness, or if your car doesn't have that then someone may have connected it to the orange wire dash lights. If it has the proper timer harness then it only has power for a limited time. :2cents:

Did some more bodywork on the engine bay. Should be able to shoot some primer within the next few weekends. I don't envy anyone that does bodywork for a living...

Welded in the us car tool fender braces and rad brace. Getting better at the welding...

Nice! I'm about to do mine, but work is killing me right now, no time. Did you treat the insides with anything? I thought I sandblast and prime the car first, might be hard to get to after the welding.
