No. That terminal only has power when the key is in the start position. The red MSD wire needs 12vdc in start AND run. The blue and brown wires from the ign sw. will do it for you.

The easiest place to connect to both the blue & brown wires is the ballast feed

ok I think I got it, so I need the brown wire(from the red arrow) and the blue wire(from the yellow arrow) join them to the small red wire correct?

thanks again I know it's probably something very simple but just want to make sure as I don't want a problem or worst a fire when I get ready to fire it up.  bruce

I'd like to say yes, but from the pic I can't really tell. Schematic wise they need to be from the bulkhead connector 'start' and 'run' which as CP said is usually most conveniantly found at the ballast resistor. Did the harness come with any instructions to say where those two wires go? If they are brown and blue they are likely the wires you want, but you need to be sure.

hey dodj, yeah they are from the bulkhead connector and were going to the ballast resister , they are coming from separate spots in the connector. im sure its the ones c.p was referring to as the other brown goes to the washer motor and there is only one blue from the connector, if this makes sense? lol. anyway thanks again for helping me out, I have a lot of respect for guys who understand the wiring on these cars for sure   bruce

ok thanks again for the help, I have all the wiring done except for the final connections to things like temp censer/alt wire and coil, once the engine is in I will get the correct length and all should be good. thanks again for your help.  bruce

:iagree: You have the correct wires , usually there is a pigtail 2 male connectors into 1 included with the MSD to connect these to the small red wire on the MSD

This is exactly what I did, I know I have a thread on here that has plenty of pics of it.
