Found a Dana 60 rear end. Is it a deal???
« on: May 10, 2005 - 05:30:15 PM »
I ran across this today. Is it a good deal. Will it fit my 70 challenger???

SEMI FLOATER DANA 60 POWER LOCK POSI 4.11 REAR END. Early model cuda/charger rear end. Complete, and perfect from axle to axle, rare find, and well worth $2,500.00, asking $1,200.00

He said Cuda / charger in the add. Maybe he means Cuda / Challenger???? What do you think of the price?

I'm leery. I'm NO expert, but the fact that he's mixing a B-body, and E-body scares me. The E-body rear is a little longer, I believe. He may have what you want, but he might not know it.  :dontknow:

Hey My70Chally, what are you running now? I've been this route here a few times asking questions about possibly changing mine to a 60 and come to the conclusion that the biggest bang for the buck is the 8.75 by far. The diff is very easy to swap out if needed, they are plentiful, they are tough, they are well, you get the point.   I have a friend  (really) and he has been racing for over 30 years and running the 8.75 the whole time. He actually laughed when I asked him if they are pretty tough. He claims that where the meat really counts the 8.75 is tougher than the fard 9" and it has the drop out diff as well. Just some stinky opinion is all.

Hey plum6, the car came with the 8 3/4 so i guess I'll just go with what I've got. Going to be running a 440 or larger engine.  :burnout:

Good choice, you can always watch for that good deal for a 60 if you ever decide to go that route. There is a reason the 60's were put in the Hemi and 6 Pak cars  but still believe the 8 3/4 is the best way to go for best all around use.
