Starter recommendation 5.7L w/Tremec
« on: February 10, 2015 - 07:07:06 PM »
I am going with a 5.7L hemi and a Tremec 5 speed in my 70 Challenger with a Quicktime bell housing. I have a right hand starter position on my bell housing. I did this to gain some room on the LH side because of the steering box being over there.
Can anyone recommend a RH mini starter that they have used with this combo that worked well?
Any additional insight from those have been through this is welcome.
Thanks in advance.  :2thumbs:

You might check with RobbMC Performance.  One of his may work, as he offers them for many different applications and they have some cool features.  Not cheap though.

Are you sure you want a bellhousing with a Right-hand starter? Pretty much every header option for a 5.7L/Ebody is intended to have a LH [factory] starter location.

I had to look it up, and yes, that's correct! They did note that they will not fit with Torsion Bars....just tossing that out there if the OP has those still or not.

Factory Gen III location for the starter is on the passenger side.
The aftermarket transmissions dictate the left side for clearance issues in the factory chassis.  I've sold nothing but left hand (drivers side) starter bell housings.
