My Car originally was sold in PA so it didn't come with a front license plate bracket. I'm in Missouri. We still use a front plate here. If the car was dealer supplied here it would have had a front bracket drilled right into the smooth front bumper.
Our state may try to get rid of front plates to save money so I didn't want to have any holes showing. Searching YouTube.com shows others mounting the stock bracket to the lower grill, by flipping it over then using long toggle bolts, but it hangs too low for my tastes and some of it below the spoiler.
I made my own mount by cutting some square holes up in front of the lower grill with an exacto knife, then inserted the square shaped expanding license plate fasteners into the holes. I then bent up 2 metal brackets and bolted them on with #14 stainless steel screws. The plate is held on with stainless 1/4-20 allen head screws and acorn headed nuts up front. The unused bottom on my plate is bent in to make it look shorter.
The "MMM MMM" is not my plate number, I changed the letters to hide the actual numbers. The plate bottom is smooth but looks funny in the picture due to my letter editing.
If I ever take if off you won't see any holes left showing. Look a other pics of new Challenger front plates and you'll see how mine looks better.
