Swapping headlights to LED?
« on: February 12, 2015 - 05:31:18 AM »
Guys, I know i've read on this forum that someone swapped the old sealed beam headlight to like Halo LED. Cant find it tho.

Someone got experience doing this? I think 5.75" is the correct size when looking for LED Halo beams?

Some advice for buying all 4 or just swap two of them.

All advice is appreciated!

Cheers from a cold Sweden!

Straight swap of bulb
just wired it so the halo was on if ignition is on

only paid $29 for these bulbs http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-3-4-H5006-H5001-WHITE-HALO-HALOGEN-H4-BULB-CRYSTAL-CLEAR-HEADLIGHT-ANGEL-EYE-/231132005560?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35d08a84b8&vxp=mtr#ht_0wt_0

you don't have to do all 4 headlamps, maybe changing only the 2 low beams would look good, you could start with that

I'm not a big fan of the halos, but how do they work?  Are they much better at night?  I was thinking of buying the $330 set but if these are a big improvement...

I don't think the halo adds to the brightness. It  is for looks or in my case I made them running lights for easier visiability of my car to others in the daytime.

Sorry, I meant how do the headlights work overall compared to the factory halogen bulbs?

I've heard of using the halo's hooked to the park lamps, or as DRL's. We got them for the Toxic T/A build, I'm going to experiment using them as turn signals.  Just thinkin out loud.  ::)

Someone on another forum said "now I can actually see in the dark" after installing LED H4 headlights... I think it will be a big difference. I hope so anyway, thats why Ill update them. I live in creepy dark Sweden.

You dont need to use the HALO's - just dont connect them to park lights.

I've had both style truck-lite LEDs in the Jeep I just sold. While they were very good lights they looked -extremely- out of place on the Barracuda. So I sold the lights after I sold the Jeep. The <5% of the time I'll be driving my car at night is not worth the aesthetics hit by running LEDs. :2cents:

These look like halogen bulbs but are LEDs. A little pricey but may be worth it. I drive home after car shows and races quite frequently at night.
