Just bought

"Does not fit my 72 Challenger" lol. I just like the looks of the Kenwood, and it has a 5 band EQ, and dust covers and 6 channel output with a sub port. All good. And CHEAP.
Have you priced any factory stereo systems lately? They are seriously insane.
With a little work, you can get a better sounding system for 1/4 the cost.
The speakers have a high output for such a small size, and a rubber surround. Actual speaker size is smaller than 4" They are thin profile. I will make them fit, no problem. Will most likely have to make adapter plates out
of aluminum. No big deal.

If you look at the speaker side profile view, The top does not extend up past the speaker itself very far. That was my main concern. Other than having to be able to handle high output. Rubber surrounds are a plus, in
the harsh enviroments of a dash out in the sun. I will update when I recieve them.

I should be able to retrofit them into the original speaker grill openings with little or no problem. A little slicing here, a little cutting there, and voila! Not to concerned about that.

I did similar, made adapter plates out of aluminum for my 3.5" on both sides of the dash sides. As a heads up, be weary of where your terminals on the speakers are in relation to the adapter. Mine were too close and the speaker wire spade when connected was ever so slightly touching causing the whole system to ground out, drove me crazy until I found the problem.

Thank you for the heads up, buddy! It's cool when people help each other out here.

I recieved the speakers today. They really aren't much bigger than the stock ones.
For the center 4 x 10, I bought one of those mounting plates that allow you to mount 2 smaller speakers. Seller was Jerry Landes at " Moparmad57 @ gmail dot com " He had them waterjet cut to fit the center hole, then waterjet cut two 3" openings in them.
It looks ike the 4" speakers will fit just fine.
The new speaker (BOTH original and new, turned upside down to measure) is a smidgen taller, at around 3/8". I may have depth issues, but nothing that isn't insurmountable. I don't see it as a probem.
The outer grills that I bought off ebay, will work fine with an 1/8" aluminum adapter plate, it looks like. Just something simple with a 3" - 3 1/2" hole in the center and enough overlap to mount to the original mounting holes for the original speakers, with a bit of foam to fill any gaps.
Nothing fancy or hard to make.
I will probably end up mounting speakers in the kick panels as well. This isn't optimum, but sometimes one has to make trade off's for better sound and concealment.
I will end up with 6 speakers up front. 4 in the dash - left and right, and 2 in the kick panels, left and right. And 2 in the package tray. Maybe a woofer for the trunk? But not for now.
The new Kicker 4" speakers are NICE! 150 watt peak, 75 watt continous RMS. They will most likely NEVER see those numbers.
They have rubber surrounds, polyproplyene woofers and silk dome tweeters. They should last a long time, and exceed my expectations. The dome from the tweeter barley rises above the top. Most other speakers, they jut out an inch or more.
These should work well. I'm happy!
I will try to take pictures soon.

Nice, I'm curious to see the waterjet adapter you bought. How much does he charge?

Bought it 2 years ago? I can't remember. $10 -$15 bucks? $20 tops.
It's not big. It's not expensive.
