brake booster and master cylinder
« on: February 15, 2015 - 08:20:08 PM »
Any suggestions on where to get a booster and master cylinder for a '73 challenger, 340?

I want OE or as close to OE as possible.

Thanks,

I got mine at advanced auto for $120.00 plus core. 1973 cuda so I would think they are the same. It looked very close to the origional. I don't remember any big differences but it's been a few years.

Brake Booster Dewey rebuilds OEM units if you have an original core.

If you have a core, send it to Booster Dewey.  There were two different kinds of boosters used.  The most common is the Midland Ross booster.  It is held together by a band and is zinc-dichromate plated.(yellow/gold plating)  The second style is a Bendix.  I haven't seen this booster very much in the later years but occasionally it pops up on original cars.  The Bendix booster is crimped together and was painted black.

Here is my original Midland Ross booster after coming back from Booster Dewey.

As for the mastery cylinder, you should still be able to get a correct looking reman from a parts store.  The brand new masters I've seen aren't correct.  The new masters have the squared off end towards the front of the car.  Originally, the rounded end was facing forward.

Seems like Brake Booster Dewey will rebuild the booster.  Looks great Burdar (as with your entire car)!

Who is recommended to rebuild the master cylinder with same great results?  Thanks.

The Ramman does master cyclinders and brake proportioning.
He did mine.

You have to talk to him by phone first.
Not much into e-mail.
