Steering Column Disassembly Question
« on: February 19, 2015 - 06:12:04 PM »
Reached an impasse:  I'm trying to remove the cylinder that has the shifter-lock-out lever on it so we can install the lower bearing upgrade.  The first picture shows the lever I want out of there.  The second photo shows how far I've gotten.  What do I do next to remove that inner cylinder?

Just figured it out.  That's a set screw in the second photo. It holds the cylinder in there.  The new steel bottom bearing fits between the outer column tube and the steering shaft.  That cylinder that has the shifter gizmo has to be removed

Thanks anyway.  I might have more questions before turning the steering wheel actually turns the wheels.

Shoot me a PM with your email address and I can send you a great PDF document that details the teardown and assembly of a steering column.

I did not create it, but got it from a member here.
