All Original T/A
« on: February 23, 2015 - 09:32:47 AM »
If there ever was a candidate for Alan to restore....

www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Dodge-Challenger-TA-Matching-s-Runs-and-drives-great-T-A-original-/251851711462?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

A running and driving Dodge Challenger TA all original survivor. The car was originally in storage for a long time and is extremely solid. This car is thought to be one of a handful of last original condition solid T/A cars running and driving today with original sheet metal.
The car has solid floors, trunk, quarters, fender, inner fenders, roof ect. Its in its original condition slick top or hard top.
Recent maintenance:
-Brakes, rotors, fuel lines, gas tank, sender
-Fuel system, carbs, heads and engine redone, exhaust NOS new.
-Front seat covers are new, foam is new, engine harness is new.
-Rear trunk floor, tires are brand new, window trims, many seals around the car are new.
This car can be driven anywhere and I would routinely drive it to car shows and around town. It has all of its power and idles very smooth without any cutouts or issues, no overheating or other strange issues. Most everything works including all the lights, signals ect. Radio is missing, does not have original radiator.
THIS IS AN ALL MATCHING NUMBERS VEHICLE. This means that everything with a VIN on it matches including the cowl tag, cowl stamp vin, rad support vin, door vin, Original TA block, Original Transmission, all the vins have been verified.
YES, there is a build sheet.
YES, there is a clean and clear title in hand.
YES, fenders, quarters, and body panels are all original and very solid and serviceable.
I won't go as far as to say this is a completely rust free 70 Dodge challenger however for any original condition original sheet metal car it is as good as you will ever find.
I also will not say that its 100% original paint but I can say its not had any patch work, and has the original stripes and Organosol paint and appears to be all original, I consider it a survivor car.
This TA is a automatic, it drives well and the Automatic transmission is original and I recommend a rebuild at some point, it does shift into all gears without slipping however sometimes I have to manual shift into 3rd.
Heads have been replaced from another 340 in the 70s, they are in perfect running order. Engine is original TA block, Vin stamp matching however heads are not original. Heads however do not have Vins.
The color of the car is DY3, its one of the hardest colors to find, please google DY3 Challenger TA to see what it looked like brand new. This is one of just 5 to 10 known of this color and one of 2 known of with this particular configuration and interior color.
50/50 T.A Challengers had rallye gauges, this one does not.
Once again this is a completely matching numbers car including all vins, block, trans, build sheet, cowl tag, ta tag, title and its all the real deal.
- ------ I am selling this car as a complete restore needed however I highly encourage you to keep it original, it shows how nice it is for original and people flock to this car before any of the brand new looking cars at the car show------
There is rust around this car but its mostly all surface rust. The car is from a very dry area of Arkansas originally and has never seen a winter, nor has it been outside in Minnesota.
-I can easily arrange shipping anywhere you'd like, I can also pick you up from the Airport. Yes, the car drives great however I would not chance a drive across the country.
Any additional questions you can please feel free to give me a call at 612-964-7609 Thank you!

That car should not be restored.
Being all original, it should stay that way until rust decides it is time to be restored.

That is one sweet ride!

The green interior is really cool.  Goes well with colors other than greens.

It's about 5 hours away with no snow on the ground. Somebody need a check up?

I agree with Joe Dirt, why restore it, when you can drive around in a $35 thousand dollar car that looks like a piece of sh!t ? :roflsmiley:

I would agree with Josh IF it were a very low mileage car, or something else that made it 1 of 3.  Based on some of the other pics, I think rust has decided it is time to be restored.  Can you imagine this car, with that cool color combo, after Alan does his thing?

I was apparently confused by the location also.

Not confused with joe dirtin.   I like dirty patina.  I have shiney cars.  Both have their place.
