Hello I;ve found myself in a tough spot Im trying to install a Ducktail spoiler onto my 72 Challenger I know it didnt come with it originally but the car is being made the way i want it and ive always liked the look of the ducktail instead of the go wing plus my car when i bought it the guy had the ducktail just lying around so he gave it to me but im having trouble figuring out how to attach it i dont have the mounting hardware yet but its easy to find on ebay i saw a previous post about this install but the pictures were missing

If you need templates for the holes, Year One has them.

I layered a few layers of rows of masking tape down , laid out the holes using this drawing. Then using a smaller drill drilled thru the support structure . I then used a carbide burr and made the holes big enough to get a socket in to tighten up the nuts.
Hope that helped.

Well the problem right now isn't so much cutting the holes or where to place it it's how to use the mounting kit on my wing it's not exactly obvious where anything goes

That is an aftermarket wing that is NOTHING like the originals. I don't see how you would get a factory style installation kit to work.
I think you're on your own there to try whatever works :2cents:

Maybe... :dunno:

1. Fit the spoiler to the trunk so it fits nicely.
2. Drill some holes in the trunk.
3. Set spoiler in place and mark hole locations.
4. Drill holes in bottom of spoiler.
5. Use a wall anchor to attach.

You could cut the head off of this bolt, push the retractable end through the hole and install a nut.

Or, you could use this style wall anchor.

You may still run into issues if your trunk lid doesn't have the cut outs for it. :2cents:

I think another person posted an adapter for the trunk lids that weren't made for it

The old spoiler you have looks like the MAS brand (out-of-business a few years ago).  Although it is far from the factory type, it can be bondoed/molded to the trunk, as well as cut at the outer ends and bondoed/molded to the rear fenders (a 3-piece type), like on GMs and others.   I'd search for a 70 trunk lid which already has the factory cut-out rectangular holes on the under-skin, then simply spot and drill the bolt holes.. just like an original.  I'm pretty sure you can buy a new repro 70 trunk from AMD or others, and fairly reasonable $$.
