fenderwell headers for small block
« on: February 25, 2015 - 02:49:45 AM »
I am looking for  a set of fenderwell headers to fit my 68 Cuda. I find all kinds for big block but nothing for small blocks. Anyone know where to get a set?
thanks

You might want to just put in a call to some of the companies like hooker, Hedman, Kooks, .... They might have a jig stuffed away somewhere. An alternate solution may be to buy a weld it yourself kit and rout it where you want it.

Yeah, not much selection in fender well headers all the way around. Most people want them inside the frame rails so the companies have complied. Back in the '60 and '70s, it was much more common to find fender exit units, but they tended to interfere with street tires, so folks migrated towards more compact units instead.

I spent the morning on the phone with 20-25 header manufacturers and speed wharehouser and for some reason (I am sure popularity)  none of them made the genII a-body  w/small block fenderwell headers ...ever!!  But yet they make big block one all over.

If I had access to a tubing bender I would do my own, But I lost access to that when I retired.

I don't know how much difference there is between 64-66  and the 67-69  cudas... thought about modifying an early set if I can find a set cheap enuff.

Anyone know what the major difference between the two models? Someone said early cudas are about 2 " narrower between frame rails.

Earlier As are smaller. Not sure by  how much.

You could always get a cheap pair of Hedmans and modify to to suit your needs.

Or build your own;  "http://www.speedwaymotors.com/318-360-Mopar-Header-Kit-1-3-4-Tube-3-Inch-Collector,36216.html

You also can pick up misc bend sections to further enhance the kit;  http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Search?query=header%20tubing

Of get a big block set and modify the flange to fit a small block:  http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Small-Block-Mopar-273-360-Header-Flanges,7296.html

was thinking there can't be that much difference between 66 and a 67 cuda - cut and modify
