Shifter Plate and Lense Replacement

Here are pics of my old shifter lense and plate with a pic of new plate.  How do you get the back end frame off the old plate?  It looks like it was riveted and/or welded from the factory.

Also what's the best way to put the new one onto the old frame?  The new plate comes with screws or do you silicone glue it?

I drilled out the rivets. Installed the new with very small machine screws and nuts.

Yea...it's a pretty simple and clean way to replace that pitted chrome bezel

I put a small grind stone on a dremel. worked perfect

That's what I'll do.  Looks like there was a light that runs in there.  Is that correct?

Yes. An orange wire runs under the carpet on the passenger side.
