Door panel clip
« on: February 28, 2015 - 07:48:28 PM »
I'm putting on new door panels. The old ones had a clip on them as pictured. Located top centre. What is the purpose of them? Is it just to act as a spacer/support?

It keeps the door panels tight up against the glass.
Otherwise they relax and won't hold their shape after repeated heat/cold cycles.

3 per panel

Mine only have one! I don't see how they keep the panels against the glass. They were only hooked to the door panel, nothing else.  :clueless:

There are 3 locations they attach to on the inside on each panel.
I have a Cuda. Shouldn't be any different for a Challenger either.

I looked at mine again and I see the three locations. I'll have to try and find more clips.

I know I'll need some too? I think mine only has 1 per side currently. If your stopping by Roseville on your way down to MB pick me up some too? I'll pay you when I get down there?

By no means a comprehensive test, but I disassembled 4 73-74 Challengers and all had only one clip per panel even though it appears to be made for three. :2cents:

Do you really need three of them?  :clueless: I checked on my Challenger and there was only one in the middle, in both panels. I bought one and placed it in the front of my right panel and I couldn't get it in, no matter how much strength I put on. Then I watched the two panels and it occurred to me that the front and back slots where the clips go were untouched (except for the right front slot which I tried to install the clip). Shouldn't there be any signs of a used clip that was removed ?  :dunno: Then I saw that the front and back slot were exact fit for the door chassis. I installed them and left them as they are and there are holding nice...

I believe my 73 only had one clip per panel as well.
