Uh... A 70!!! Sorry 71 Cuda's continue to be the darlings of the collectors crowd but I still find them gaudy & much prefer a 70...
I'm with you there Randy, I've questioned myself why '71 cudas seem to be considered the crown jewel of the E body world. As I think I said in Rick's deleted thread, I much prefer the clean look of '70s and think '71s cudas look like you took a '70 and added a bunch of dress up stuff from a JC Whitney catalog to stick on it!
Maybe the same could be said about the simulated brake cooling scoops on the rear quarters of '71 R/T Challengers, but I think they are subtle and cool.
I got into Mopars as a teen because I wanted to be different then everyone else in high school who were into Chevies and Mustangs. I like to have e bodies that are different so I love my '71. No worries about seeing to many others around! And I find it frustrating that so many people who have got into the Mopar crowd in recent years seem to want the same thing, FC7 and a few other colors, '70 Challengers, '71 cudas.... maybe they should have stuck with Camaros and 5.0 Mustangs if they wanted to be in a crowd that's all the same?
Oh well, thats just me. I've probably made enemies of all the '71 cuda owners and FC7 fans!
I must say though, in my defense, while I was in college I bought an extremely loaded originally FC7 '71 cuda 340. Sadly it had been used as a daily commuter car and the salt they dump on the streets here in winter had taken its toll. I wish I could have restored it, but the floor and frame rails were rotting. It must have been incredible looking new with its color keyed bumpers, window louvers and spoilers and I shed a tear remembering it even if '71 cudas aren't my favorite E body!
