'71 V Code Challenger
« on: March 02, 2015 - 10:34:02 PM »
71 Challenger R/T 440 6 pack.  4 speed A34 super track pack with 4:10 Dana rear. Rarely seen, only 250 V code Challengers built in 1971. Date correct engine and trans but NOM.  Original sheet metal, this car has been described by former owners as being the cleanest body E body they have ever seen, no evidence this car has had even a hint of surface rust in its life.  Well optioned, besides the A34, it has leather seats and AM/FM with 3 speaker dash.  Pictured in the 2010 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals preview magazine in 2010, Shown in MCACN in 2010 and was in MCACNs 2011 1971 invitational, one of only 2 1971 V codes displayed that year in that prestigious show. Great Running car too, with its NOM drivetrain there are no concerns about taking it out and banging some gears!   Hate to part with it, but I've got more cars than I have garage space to keep them. Sorry no trades.

Just a bump.  Car is still available, and now that my cursed T/A project is out of the resto shop and temporarily in storage nearby until I make room in my garage, I should get more serious about trying to sell.
Won best Mopar at the Chicagoland Mopar Connection show in June and also won an award at their big Belvidere Mopar happening a few weeks ago.  And as I mentioned in a thread here, got impressive gas mileage for the trip to and from the show. :burnout:
Dare to be different, not all E bodies have to be plum crazy, red or sublime!  ;)

I noticed the thread about Ricks '71 B5 V code is missing.  I hope Alan and my talking about how people don't seem to want '71 Challengers didn't wreck his thread and make him decide to delete it!  :banghead:
Mine is still available.  Grab it now before the masses wake up and realize '71 Challengers are just as cool as '71 cudas!  :worshippy
Here is mine last weekend when I took it out for a spin on my way to one of the last local cruises of the season.  Wins local shows and a great driver to boot, what more could an e body guy ask for?

I'm with you there Randy, I've questioned myself why '71 cudas seem to be considered the crown jewel of the E body world.  As I think I said in Rick's deleted thread, I much prefer the clean look of '70s and think '71s cudas look like you took a '70 and added a bunch of dress up stuff from a JC Whitney catalog to stick on it!
Maybe the same could be said about the simulated brake cooling scoops on the rear quarters of '71 R/T Challengers, but I think they are subtle and cool.
I got into Mopars as a teen because I wanted to be different then everyone else in high school who were into Chevies and Mustangs.  I like to have e bodies that are different so I love my '71.  No worries about seeing to many others around!  And I find it frustrating that so many people who have got into the Mopar crowd in recent years seem to want the same thing, FC7 and a few other colors, '70 Challengers, '71 cudas.... maybe they should have stuck with Camaros and 5.0 Mustangs if they wanted to be in a crowd that's all the same?
Oh well, thats just me.  I've probably made enemies of all the '71 cuda owners and FC7 fans!   I must say though, in my defense, while I was in college I bought an extremely loaded originally FC7 '71 cuda 340.  Sadly it had been used as a daily commuter car and the salt they dump on the streets here in winter had taken its toll.  I wish I could have restored it, but the floor and frame rails were rotting. It must have been incredible looking new with its color keyed bumpers, window louvers and spoilers and I shed a tear remembering it even if '71 cudas aren't my favorite E body! :crying:

I'm restoring a FC7 1971 V code, auto Cuda that just easily sold for $99K USD last Winter....and it needed a full restoration.....So why you can't get your asking price for your beautiful 71 Challenger is way beyond me....

Good luck, I more then anybody hope you get your price

Hey Brad, I did not delete the thread due to any comments. I deleted it as I had decided to upgrade the car and then take it to market again.
However, I went and looked a non-71 car the other day and made a serious offer. If that deal materializes the Challenger will be back up the way it is.

I grew up back in the day when Mopars were cheap and everywhere.
I bought and sold a few 71 'Cudas but like most of my mopar buddys from back in the day we never thought they were to best looking of the 'Cudas.

The 1971 (4 eyed) 'Cuda was not very popular when new either which is why Plymouth went back to 2 headlights the next year.

I think the Movie Phantasm and the TV show Nash Bridges got the 71 'Cuda a lot of attention from non Mopars guys who fell in love with the car and thought that was the only 'Cuda made.

My personal choice for a 'Cuda would be a rubber bumper 1970 but for Challengers the 1971 R/T is king, but I'm a littled biased. :2cents:

To the OP good luck with the sale...love the car, options and the color

Hard to argue about a 70 Cuda with a front rubber bumper
