Finally... ordered a 4 Post Lift
« on: March 04, 2015 - 07:23:44 PM »
After much research here from other's input/advise (thank you)  :2thumbs: , a tax refund  :2thumbs: and working overtime for extra funds....

I finally placed an order for a 4 post lift from Greg Smith Equipment.

I got the extra tall so I can walk under it and not hit my head on the runways.
I plan to use it for under the cuda work and for storage of the other cuda to increase space in the shop.
I liked the option to move it in different areas if needed. (caster kit included)
Yes, the 2 post lift has its benefits but for my purposes, the 4 poster will be a better option over all.

Here is what I purchased.

For me, it was an extra $275 to have it shipped to my local area, which is worth it. It was $295 but I asked for any kind of discount and they cut the shipping cost just a little. Hey, any discount helps. Right?

It will be delivered to a freight center where I can pick up and bring home in a few days. Then I'll assemble it. :2thumbs:
I'll post pics of the assembly.

Just wanted to share my new toy purchase.  :bananasmi :swaying: :jumping: :woo:

Nice, I'm envious, one for a lift and 2 a shop big enough to put it!

I'm leaning to the 2 post design. The 4 post seems practical, and more stable ,but 37" between the runners seems tight?  :smokin:  :dunno:

Tom, you are going to love it. I just got mine several months ago from greg smith in Newark Delaware. I was able to rent a uhaul trailer to drive down to pick it up.

It went together easily, after looking up assembly that a fellow hobbyist put on YouTube.

I wish I had the ceiling height to do what you did with the extra height. But even with a 10 ft ceiling it is awesome to use. I have a tall stool that I sit on while I'm under the lift. I just have to remember to remove it before lowering  :faint:

I have a two post outside and it is great, however a four post indoors would be nice and a big help when doing suspension work that needs to be at ride height. Congrats!  you will have fun.

Thanks for the comments guys.

And Tom, thanks for the youtube link. That will be helpful in assembly. I do plan to have my brother or friend help to speed things up.

Pics will come soon.

I got that one last summer and I also bought the RJ-35 Sliding Jack. I didn't have the man power available when I needed it to assemble so I paid $600 to have it done by the local Atlas wholesalers. 2 guys had it done in 3hr 30min using a forklift.  The drivers side is very heavy because it has the hyd cyl and cables. If you have access to a forklift get it. After you get it put together and everything leveled up, put the car on it and move it up and down a couple of times to allow the cables to get set better. You'll then most likely need to reset everything again.

Its worth every penny !!   :D

When I realized that I was going to be unable to assemble the lift myself, I called Greg Smith in Indy where I bought mine from to ask about installers. They gave me the number of their contractor. I called and they were going to be at least 2 weeks before they could get to me. They gentleman I spoke too told me to call the toll free number for Atlas. He said the units were basically the same and since Atlas was a much larger company, they had a better network of installers. Called Atlas and they asked me where I lived and gave me the number of an installer that lives 30min away and was here the next day.
