Finally... ordered a 4 Post Lift

I've been restoring these cars for 30+ years laying on my back on a creeper.....you guys are spoiled !

How long can our backs keep doing this?
Every year it get's harder.

  The mind is willing, the body..... not so much. Add in the cold and     a lift looks like a very good idea.

Alan, it's not about being spoiled.
It's about working smarter, not harder. 
Especially as we get older.

I turned 50 last September and using that creeper was getting old 10 years before that. 

And for a guy that has a business and time is money. I would think a lift would facilitate that time to make more money faster. This is why 99% shops (in business) have lifts. Just sayin.

First off...I have no room for one, second, other then exhaust, I can't think of one single instance where it would come in handy

Yea,every time I put a car on mine I think, why did I waste the money  . I have to stand up to look at the belly, stand up to take the tires off, stand up to bust the suspension loose, stand up to drop fluids. He!!, it was way more fun on my knees or flat on my back.      FOR SALE CHEAP, LIFT  I want the old times back

The "four post" lift are designed to drive on.....Most of the cars I restore don't have suspension in them let alone wheels....Be more hassle then it's worth in my opinion.

Well, I picked the lift up today.
1740 lbs and it's all there.








Because I don't have a tractor or anything outdoors to lift it, I am moving it closer to the edge of the trailer with my jack so I can use my engine hoist to lift the top piece which weighs about 450 lbs or more. Then I can get the other parts out of there.








I had to level it so I could get the jack under the front end to move it closer to the edge.



Now I have better position of the lift for my engine hoist. 

This weekend I plan to put it together with the help of my brother and possibly next door neighbor that works on classic cars/trucks as well.
I will provide pics of removing the lift parts and assembling it.

Read the instructions very carefully several times before you do anything and look every part over and identify it with the instructions !!

Also.... you want as many guys helping as possible to maneuver the unit that has the hyd cyl into place.

Its not that hard to assemble and very easy to screw up cable routing over and under pulleys and guide bolts.

Thats why you need a 2 post lift to go with your 4 post lift!!!

I will say that getting my Cuda on the 4 post as a non runner with the engine and trans in was quite a challenger doing it myself. 

I don't intend to take it off until I can drive it off

I mounted an electric winch to the wall in front of the lift so I can pull it up easlily by myself and leave tension on it to roll it off slowly
