Gauge Restoration

I recently sent off my speedometer for restoration.  It came out of a 73 Challenger. I sent it to Redline Gauge Works out of California. I just wanted to let anyone who is at this point in their restoration this is a great place to send your gauges. They were quick and reasonably priced. They also package it very well for delivery,  The speedometer was not working when I sent it and it needed a needle. I took it out of the package, installed it, and it works perfectly.

I used Redline too.   I would recommend them as well.   UPS apparently used the box with my restored cluster for batting practice while it was on the return trip to me.   Despite there being lots and lots of padding, the clear plastic bezel was cracked and the speedo was knocked out of calibration.   Redline took the unit back, took care of all of the claim details, and re-restored it without any problems.   Nice folks, too.

Redline restored my gauges too!  Top notch place and great customer service!  I had them install their custom tach and oil gauges, move the fuel gauge, recalibrate the speedo, clean up the gauges and polish the lens.  Before and after pics:

Autoinstruments.com is doing a complete restoration on my rallye gauges right now, including modern tach internals, speedo rebuild, quartz conv, bead blast and paint, refacing, all calibration and polished glass.  Can't wait to get them back.  Let you know how they turn out with before and after.

Sent my rally gauges to redline also.  It's a 2 month turn around and can't wait to see the results.

What did it cost to have them restore the speedometer?

It was 200.00 to restore the Speedo. The worm gears were replaced and a new needle was installed. The faceplate was fine.  I like the pics of the restored gauges. They looked great.

FWIW, RedLine has had my instrument cluster for two months. They said turn around would be two months when I sent it in. Now they are saying at least another 6-8 weeks. I'm not very happy right now.

Got the UPS shipping notification today. RedLine has finished my instrument cluster restoration and it should be arriving tomorrow. They had it in their possession for 15 weeks. Looking forward to seeing it! Had them do a complete resto including tach, clock, and voltage limiter upgrades. Also had the ammeter to volt meter conversion accomplished. Total was $1076. I would advise anyone contemplating a RedLine instrument cluster overhaul to allow 4 months for the job.....they told me initially at least two months. I'll report on the quality in a later post.
