    Got my '70 V-code broadcast sheet....starting research!

    Got the paperwork from the car's former owner today. I thought it was interesting how the VIN has a high 308705 number for a 1970.....

    Attached is the full blown so it is easy for you to read. I thought I'd post it here for you while I start deciphering the codes. The car does not have a fender tag, so this sheet will help in getting one repro'd.

    I see the wheel code was labeled W17, in FC7 color. Does this mean I've got the dog dish'ers?

    Built in Hamtramck but without chrome tips. Sold in California maybe?

    Yes, the car has CA emissions control (N95), AND the previous owner told me he verified the rear valance to be original to the car, which has the 'bent down' pipes, not the chrome tips. Knowing this is a Track Pak (non Super) car, I can't say this surprises me. However, I was told that six pak and Hemi cars destined for the California market were shipped with the non-chrome tip rear valances.

    This story gets more interesting....I looked up the Hamtramck Registry in the 'found' section, and following my 308705 VIN sequence, there is an entry for 308706, and it is a V-code car as well. I ought to write them and compare the information on this car to mine.

    California had a noise law in effect, therefore the HP cars with dual exhausts got the turn down tips to reduce noise.

    Thats not unusual to see similar cars going down the line together...i had an AAR where there were 3 cars all together...all FE5, black vinyl top cars. My AAR had the red interior, 4 speed, another was red interior with a automatic, the third was black interior with a 4 speed.

    The strip code is V68 which is body side sport stripe --delete. Does this mean that the car came with a bumblebee stripe, or no
    stripes and just the R/T logos on the left front and right front under the Challenger script ??

    Hi Bondavi , I have had 2 6 pak challengers in the 308XXX series.  1 was a R/T FC7-white roof-white int-white stripe-Shaker-4 sd-410 dana,  I can,t remember clearly but I think 308652(  ?  ).
    The other was a broze colored T/A - auto -col shift.

    I can help break down some of your sheet....

    Its 1 of   847 4sd 6-pak challenger R/T s

    So here goe's get your calculator.

    1.2 % came with the shaker hood
    22.2 % were FC7-plum crazy
    42 % came with black V-Top
    8.3 % came with the Track Pak ( All Challenger R/T s ) all engines
    3.8 % were 440 - 6 pak with Track Pak option - ( 6-pak eqipped only )

    Thats a good start ' I,II get more into this when I get back on tomorrow.

    Hey David,
    My info on 308706 is limited, I do not know any of it's options. I do know who owned it back in 1983 though, and he was in San Francisco CA at the time.

    I can not see your sheet, I just get a red x for the file. I would like to check it out though, it hits very close to Challenger T/A VINs as well.

    Hey Barry,

    Your documentation work is priceless!  :thumbs: I have emailed you the broadcast sheet in a bigger size than what is posted on the site. The car has a build date of April 1970.

    Hopefully I can locate the earlier owners of the car and maybe find out some history of the car. I will take pictures of the car when I trailer it the 30 miles to my house two weeks from now. Looks like I will probably have something that looks different than originally envisioned....no body stripes with dog dish wheels (bumblebee maybe?), compared with my original intention of rallyes with a longitudional stripe, which is on most clones/restomods. I think this one's worth keeping the way it came from the factory. :patriot:

    Where is this registry?  Is it online?

    Holy Crap!  I googled it and the registry has my sheet!  I tore my car apart 10 years ago looking for the sheet. I don'thave fender tags.  Thanks for the post about the registry Bondavi! :dogpile:
