Biggest/widest tire possible?
« on: March 12, 2015 - 02:41:33 PM »
Hey,

I got (what I think) the original Rally wheels (pictured) from '72 on my Challenger. The tires on it right now are 14", don't know the width though.
I want some bigger, wider ones on the back and perhaps some smaller up front but I have no idea what I can put on these wheels or how big or wide is possible? Anyone that has an idea?
Thanks!

Have you looked to see what tires are available in 14"  :scared:   I wouldn't think selection will be plentiful?

There are some nice BF Goodrich's at least :)
Don't wanna order a new set of wheels as like the ones I've got (and it costs ****loads to ship them to Europe).
What I really want is little chubbier rear tires and matching ones up front :)

Those are 14x5.5" wheels.  I think the size I had on my Challenger was 225-70-14's.  They looked good on there.  You will be limited by the wheel width.  As Brad said, 14" tire choices are pretty slim.  Be careful with those trim rings.  They aren't reproduced and can go for decent money if they are in really good shape.

  Got a quote on 4 BF Goodrich's which's pretty good...remember, I'm in Europe :)
Anyway, they could get 225/70-14 for the back 215/70-14 for the front.
Would that setup look good or should I go for 225/70-14 on all four wheels instead?
Thanks!

You can easily fit the 225's on all four corners.

I put 235/60 Firehawk tires on those rims. Shop said "I'll put them on, but they are bigger than recommended for that rim". Ran them for three years. No issues. Now the rims and tires are for sale.
