:nono: Honestly LB I know the trait of being timid is not actually one of your strong characteristics, lol, I was just being me........lol, but when it comes to something like this I'm not the most quiet creature either. Just my feeble attempt to being humorus, lol.

:nono:  You know you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.  I would feel the same as you, but if you want him to fix it right, don't piss him off.  Explain your problem professionally, with tact.  Otherwise he's liable to botch it even worse and you'll end up paying someone else for something he should have done right the first time.  I expect he will fix it with no problem if everyone keeps their cool.

I have to agree with wrencher on this one.  I know you want to tear this guy an new you know what, but handle this in a mature way or else he may do more damage than good to your car.  Almost like not wanting to send your food back cause the insulted chef may add a special surprise to your dinner.  Does that make sense?

Mike, here's the best thing to do. Hide a small recorder on you. Anything he says that doesn't fly with you is recorded. You knowing this, gives you confidence. And you'll stay cooler headed. Then you have something to give to your lawyer...if need be.

Well... figured I should update everybody on how it went....

We got there and drove the car into the shop. Ed (the owner) and myself went over all the problems that I had found. In the meanwhile, my buddy Jon and Gary (MoparMan440 - thanks again for hauling it up there!) took a peak around the shop at all the cars. They were paying attention to what was being said, and when Ed started playing hard ball, they came back over and stood around. Ed tried telling me that they just hung the fenders, doors, etc and they weren't supposed to align them. I looked him straight in the eye and told him that he was trying to tell me that I was supposed to align them after EVERYTHING was already painted. I said he was nuts!! Once I started throwing the hard ball back to him, he backed off and agreed that it was a miscommunication on both our parts about the alignment of panels... now, tell me something... am I wrong to assume that when you're having a BODY SHOP put your car back together, you'd think that they'd atleast align the panels, THEN paint the car... :dontknow: :gripe: :madvibe:

So, as it sits, he's got the car (we're on pretty good terms), and he insisted that he'd take care of everything... :banghead:

I did have my buddy Jon do one funny thing while Ed was busy with me... he pulled the rotor and magnetic coil to my Pertonix out of my distributor... man are they in for a surprise when they go to move the car on Monday... I didn't want them driving it, so I took this idea from one of the Dukes of Hazzard reunion movies...  I'll be sitting at my desk on Monday waiting for the call on my cell phone that my car won't start... he saw me drive it in....

I'll keep you guys updated on how it goes....

Painting a car without first aligning the panels is total stupidity!Any body shop would align everything and check gaps and fit of anything like mouldings, taillamps, grill etc.  :gripe:

:dontknow: Never heard that one before? That is one lame excuse for slacker "who cares" work. Sorry to hear of that kind of response LB, sure hope he does fix it right this time, otherwise????????????? And it probaby all goes back to when the shop pulled off the guy who was doing your car and put another (proably lower pay scale) guy on it to finish it.  :banghead:

Talked with Ed yesterday and it looks like I'm going to be picking the car up tomorrow assuming the rain holds off... :gripe: :gripe: <--- for the rain!

He's absorbing all the costs of fixing the things that should have been done right the first time... and I'm paying for the front and rear window installation. It's only fair! Let's just say I was quite pleased when I found this out!! :grinyes:

So... assuming no rain on Saturday... I'm going to attempt to drive her home the 75 miles from the body shop... :driving: :driving: :driving:

Update pics to follow!! :grinyes:  ;D

Well.... here's the only pics that are coming this weekend...

Got a call at about 10am from Ed saying the glass guys were out there to put the windshield in, and it was broken.... :gripe: How the flying f*ck does a windshield get broken in the 12 hours it was sitting in the storage shed... I inspected the glass when the glass guy dropped it off at my house and we put it in my car, I double checked it when I pulled it out of my car and into the shed... somebody dropped it and isn't fessing up! :eeksmall: :gripe: :pissed:

I have been on the phone numerous times this morning with Ed and he is covering the cost of another windshield, but it won't get here and installed today.... so looks like week I'm picking the car up....

Sorry the pics aren't the best, but I insisted they send me pics so I could see what they were talking about being broken on the windshield... this car has only been PROBLEMS since I brought it home from the shop originally....

If this sh!t keeps up, there's going to be a blue '69 'Cuda up for sale..... :madvibe: :gripe: :gripe: :ack:
