1973 cuda Break vacuum assist

I think the vacuum assist is not holding vacuum and would like to replace it. I did the one on my '73 challenger not too long ago. I thought they would be the same part number. but searching on line they come up as different units.

Can I use the same unit?

I am not sure why they would be different but either should interchange , I think they used 2 different makes in different years such as Bendix
 If you shut off the engine & remove the hose you should be able to rock the check valve & hear the air sucked in if it is holding vacuum , also if the engine is running & you remove the hose & plug it & the engine runs differently / better with the hose plugged then the booster is leaking , this can cause a misfire on the cylinder where the vacuum port is connected as it will run lean with the extra air pulled into that port .

My neighbor heard a hissing is what is making us suspicous for a leak in the vacuum assist.

I have a vacuum pump, I can also check it by seeing if it holds vacuum.

Haven't tested it yet. I ran out of daylight that day , have to bleed breaks. will let you know.
