I will be watching with interest !!
I guess my question is why , you had it detuned to run it as it was so now you want more again but why rebuild other than is was showing signs of being tired .
Should be a monster yet again though !!

I am doing it because it is starting to act it's age. Do you remember when it ate an intake bolt in number 8 cylinder? When that happened, I had to have the cylinder head repaired and a replacement piston made and installed. Well, ever since the day that happened, the engine has had an unknown ticking sound. It has been doing it for a few years. It wasn't getting any worse, but it wasn't getting any better either. So I decided that no matter what I was going to do, I was going to replace the rotating assembly to try and eliminate the noise. Since I can get a 572 assembly for only a few dollars more than a replacement 528, I might as well go ahead and do that. That calls for a longer duration/higher lift cam to feed the increased cubic inches. I am going to leave the heads alone - only freshening them up and doing what is needed to create clearance for the larger cam. The torque converter and rear gears will remain the same. The carbs/intake will remain the same. Anyway, I just figured that I was going to re-do it, the cost was only a little bit more to go 572 and enjoy it...   :2thumbs:

OK, a little more progress this weekend. I dedicated Saturday as yard work day so I would have some time on Sunday to work on the car. Of course all good plans have hitches in them and my hitch was my son noticed that his rear brakes were making a grinding noise. So   --   I spent about an hour and a half replacing his rear brakes rotors and pads. After I got him on the road, then I ate lunch, so I got a later start than I wanted to.
Anyway, I was able to get the headers unbolted, the coolant drained and the head bolts/studs removed and I got the heads pulled off. I will post up some pics of the block with the heads removed in a day or so. It was too dark to take a decent picture. I hope to get home in time today to get a few pictures.....

Heads are off and the engine/trans will be removed early next week. The bare block w/main caps, and the heads will be taken to Barnett Racing in ATL for the machine work. Wyman Barnett will handle all the blueprinting/ balancing, and pre assembly/checking.

BTW  --  I will post up a few Hemi parts for sale soon. I will sell the crank/rods, and the custom roller camshaft very reasonable. I would rather send it to a person that could use it than to toss it in the trash.
The crank rods are Eagle forged units for a 528" rotating assembly. Pistons are not for sale as they might not be as useable as the crank rods. I will post up the cam specs soon. There are a couple of members here that are running that same cam in their Hemi's because I sent them the specs and they had one made. They are very happy with the results...

Ken,

Just in Case:

There is a stroker crank for Hemi's that use BBC sized journals.
The benefit is that the lower piston cylinder wall areas won't need to be notched for rods to clear.
