Challenger Hood Decal - Anyone that's done one - is one they sent me messed up?

Congrats on job well done! Looks nice. 

My 71 hood doesn't use the DODGE lettering but I waited a day to make sure front edge of decal was laying down good and adhesive had dried before putting hood lip molding back on.

Glad it worked out, when I suggested using the decal I was thinking it would hide the repaired crack without having to try matching the paint...  Not simply hide the crack... Guess I should have been more specific...   A little polyester putty & a little block sanding & there would be nothing to see....

Ya .... we thought about that and should have ... we took a chance .... and ... 

Gives us some father/son time later on to do that and get another decal laid.... gotta have something to look forward to fixin ...

The rest of car's paint is awesome ... the rear valence for example I bent by accident and it didn't chip or crack at all and body is great .. no chips, no cracks anywhere at all.... I think they gave the hood to the "new guy" ... when we pulled chrome off front of the hood, you could see paint drips coming over the lip ..... its way too thick on the front part of hood (top and underneath) .. that was the problem.

Underneath where it cracked on surface ... it began to chip off ... see first pic ... rather than try to match paint (I tried with 2 companies with touch up .. not even close) .. or get whole hood redone ... and then not match quarters ...

We decided to use some mat black on the top section (and we did that properly ... prep, primer, wet sanding, etc, etc)

.... not great pic below in garage .. but it actually looks neat!

I'll get one outside in sun tomorrow.

Matt black......looks good to me...blends with the decal...  Got to thinking .,,,,some where there is a guy named Matt Black.  He is famous as he has a paint named after him!

There's too much done to it so that it's not "restored" to factory (non-matching block, new transmission, new rear end, different colored stripe - original was white , didn't come with vinyl roof, has vintage a/c, etc) ... did try to keep it "looking" like factory - which is really all we wanted ...

And you are right - we got it to drive it ...  ... and have fun with like-minded people are cruises, shows, etc.  .... when I got some BS health news .... said screw it ... ain't waiting no longer

Inside of the engine compartment, up on the cowl....the area with the cowl vent screens and cowl weather-strip should be blacked-out on a 70....

No big deal, I just thought you were trying to correct some of the little details...
