I am just wondering who has the 340 that they pulled from the 71 and if it is for sale.

We have to take into account the celebrity value of the car when we look at the 150 grand sales price. Any time you can connect an item to a famous person the value goes way up. Just watch Pawn Stars. I was watching the show with Berry White where he was building Super Muscle Cars and selling them at auction. I noticed the same guy was buying the cars at way to high prices. He just wanted any car Berry White built.

I agree it is no where worth $150,000 - but if I won the give away I would love to have it.  First thing for sale would be the wheels.

When I heard about the project I wanted to watch how they decided to tackle all the issues with the swap, especially the 6-speed floor issue. While watching the show I really had to wonder if they have ever heard of the site google because there are so many threads out there on this swap that could have helped them avoid so many of the problems they ran into. I would really like to know how they got the wrong upper control arms considering they ordered a complete front suspension setup from Magnum Force.

What is really going to suck is the tax bill for the winner of the contest as the value of the car in which the tax bill is determined has been set at the $150k mark, so the winner will most likely have a bill of somewhere in the neighborhood of $60k!

Thats a good point 72hemi when the contest is posted we will have to see if they value the prize at 150k... That would suck big time to pay the tax bill on it based off of a tv stars wish to stroke his ego...  :faint:

Catch 22 - You win the car and save $60k in taxes, but can only drive it the 2 days of summer a year.

I personally like the show generally and I do think Aaron is fairly talented. But as stated on this thread several times they could have done a little research and made that a lot easier. As for the front suspension issue, that wasn't a surprise at all, I have a rather poor opinion of MF after seeing it first hand recently on a Cuda built. Almost every aspect of their kit needed modification, didn't fit or was explicably mal-aligned. Almost worse than that was their dealing with the customer which was disbelieve (never seen that before type comments), reluctance to help, inability to understand the issues, etc. It finally got sorted but not without a lot of arguing, waiting and in some cases modification.

Reference this episode of the F&L, I can't say I was overly excited by chopping up either car but it didn't bother me too much as I have done my fair share of similar things. I did take offense of Aaron referring to the Challenger as the "Mayflower" with reference to the technology. Granted it is old, however it remains completely viable and can be made relatively as good as the new stuff with a liberal dose of $$. I am sure it is nice car and goes fast but since they went to all that effort, they should have put some sound deadner (Hushmat) in it as well to give it that new car sound as well. At least those other hacks in TX or even the heros at GYC didn't have a chance at it.

One of my sons lives in Dallas.   Yesterday, he went to a local O'Reillys to pick up some parts and came across the GMG Challenger on display in the parking lot.   The scripted nature of the show makes the tension from looming deadlines and budget limits pretty silly, but the car is hard to ignore.   I think the wheels used are something like $2000 each.   Sure, I'll take a dozen.

I'm curious as to how these cars actually get sold.

In the show you can see from time to time all the old cars they have built. So do you sign a contract saying you can buy the car but have to bring it back for promotional purposes. If that was the case heck no would I buy a car from them.

Let alone they can't finish a car with a friggin headliner.  :roflsmiley:

I like watching the show though, not as inane as GYC.
