New Season of Gas Monkey - 1971 Challenger
« on: March 23, 2015 - 11:36:38 AM »
The Gas Monkeys Take on a 1971 Dodge Challenger!

It's been way too long, right? If you need your Gas Monkey fix, we're back with all new builds on Monday nights starting TONIGHT! Tune into Discovery at 9/8c to see what the monkeys plan to do to a 1971 Dodge Scat Pack Challenger to make it faster and louder. The MOPAR fans out there will love this one!

Dare we watch one of our sacred E-Bodies being subjected to a Gas Monkey "upgrade"?   Supposedly they are adding a 2015 motor to it.   :scared:

At least its a Challenger and not a Cuda.  :poopoke:  :smilielol:

I wouldn't let AssMonkeys touch my Hemriod.....much less my E Body.

Fast and pound.

I wonder if this one will actually get a headliner unlike all those other builds.

Couldn't be much worse than what Chip Goose did to a Cuda, or not.  :dunno:

I set it to record so I can fast forward through the frightening parts.   :scared:

I see there are doing a 68 coronet too.  I'm anxious to see what they do, I like the show.  Doesn't mean I would cut some of the corners they do...  Agree with above,  what's with the lack of headliners :-)

The '71 was non-numbers 340 and they only replaced the suspension and drivetrain, no body work.  Dismantling the 2015 Challenger was obviously pre-authorized since Richard has the relationship and is heavy into marketing for Dodge.  I liked the upgrade to the 392, magnum force, big brakes, but didn't like the wheels they test fitted.  I did get a kick out of how hard it was to fit everything and Aaron is obviously not a Mopar guy since he didn't know any of the fitment issues prior to starting.

So what about the cross member and trans tunnel they rip up, would'nt this make it hard to turn back if you wanted to?

Funny thing while watching it. I'd call out what won't work and 2 seconds later Aaron said it on tv.

Too funny.

That was my question since that trans barely fits what are they going to do about the cross member they cut out?  What kind of support will they use in such a limited space if any?

IMHO the only show worth watching that deals with the restoration, modification or upgrading of our beloved  :wavingflag: classic cars is FANTOM WORKS. Dan pulls no punches, takes no prisoners and tells it like it is.  :2cents:  Now if Alan were to have a show, I would watch it.   :worshippy
