Right now we're enjoying FREE Velocity channel until the end of March.  :clapping:
I've been watching old re-runs of some shows I'd never heard of. :dunno:

I agree Fantom Works is a pretty decent show....The projects are not always exciting, but it does seem pretty factual and I like how they discuss REAL WORLD numbers and prices of things :2thumbs:

Now if Alan were to have a show, I would watch it.

Funny you say that....Last year I was approached by a local shop that is working on getting their own new show....The owner told me that he wanted to hire me to come in and do some work on camera for the show....as if his guys weren't good enough :roflsmiley:

I was talking with some of the other workers in this guys shop....Nobody is crazy about the idea because most shows make the workers look like a bunch of bafoons  :screwy: :icon16:

Seems to me they could have found a jh chally that was in the same shape for about half the price. IF that car was indeed a real r/t, I think it should have been left alone. When this car is finished, it isn't going to matter what it's pedigree was, it's gonna just be another pro-touring car. Gonna be a bad-arse car though!

well, it's time to turn the tide. i hate all those shows, period! they are so fake, scripted and difficult to watch (for me). they make car people look like jack-asses. maybe that's the only way to get people to watch. televise less drama and concentrate more on the build.

He "paid" $42k for that Challenger and beat the crap out of it for a day. Then proceeds to allow those hacks to take a sawzall to the car!!! It was hard to watch. It looked like a decent car with a lot of new parts in good condition. Putting the 6.4 and 6 speed really doesn't make the car "cool" in my book. I would rather have seen them install an old school Hemi with fuel injection. The great big Rally wheels they were test fitting were gross and looked like crap!!!

They should stick to Fords and Chevies.

I wish all the shows rebuilt them to stock but stock isn't for all customers and not all shops can do it.

I like the Monkey's since they fired the two idiots that now work at the old shop (Fired Up).  Their new show blows!

I Stopped by the Gas Monkey Bar and Grill while picking up a car in Texas a couple weeks ago.  Worth stopping!  The food is very good and the wait staff is cool.  Place is huge!

While I can appreciate the work that goes into restoring a car to factory specs, OEM is not my thing. I'm more of a resto-mod guy. I just don't like being backed into a corner where you have to follow a very specific set of guide lines when building your car. I think he paid way to much for the car and when they started to cut it up even I started to cringe.  Also unlike most of us here, the guys on shows like that don't fall in love with these cars. Their main objective is profit. I would have liked the car better if they modified a period correct motor with EFI and and used a modern transmission and  suspension. Let's face it, without all the drama the show would be pretty boring to most people if all they showed was a car being restored.

They finished the '71 Challenger on last nights show. He bought the '71 RT (not sure if it was a real RT) for $42,000, blew through their $15,000 budget and ended up spending $35,000 for a total of $72,000.  They also stripped of whatever they could from the 2015 pre-production Challenger.  He ended up selling it for $150,000.   :faint:

I think it ended up pretty cool because they did not do any body fabrication, only the tunnel.  It had a Magnum Force front and rear suspension, Willwood discs, the 392 from the 2015 Challenger, custom seats that actually looked pretty good and close to original with some side support.  They had to get another set of UCA after the tires had too much negative camber, custom wiring and custom exhaust just to make it fit.  The one thing I did not like was the "rallye" type wheels from US Mags.

At least they did a Mopar and did not completely ruin it.   :2thumbs:
