I guess what I meant by interpretation is more opinion, one person's opinion of something can be totally different than another's. For example: words like "restored", "mint condition" or even "perfect". Everybody has a different definition.
In this case I can see Danny not mentioning some of the issues before the sale, because they meant nothing or very little to him and didn't cloud "his" vision of perfect.
HOWEVER !!!
The fact that after the sale he admitted there was problems with the clutch he couldn't fix, or ticking in the engine that alarmed him enough to have it looked at.....THEN I AGREE....that's pretty much lying or not telling the whole truth for sure...
But like I said...It's how he's handled in since that sucks....
My short story:
I did a complete restoration on a Cuda for a guy, had the machine work for the engine done, then I did the final assembly and the install of the engine....I drove the car 100+ miles and thought it ran great....Gave it to him and he was never happy...said the engine had an uneven idol and a murmur at highway speeds....
I took it back, had two separate mechanics look at it, test everything on the motor and we could not find ANYTHING wrong...I gave it back to him without really changing anything....I stated "if you're still not happy...take it to a shop of your choice and get it fixed, I'll pay for it"
Two months go by...nothing...then I get a phone call from a shop in his home town, they need me to pay his invoice $5600+ dollars....Even though they couldn't give me an exact answer as to what was wrong....the murmur was gone and the customer is happy.
I paid the bill in full....This was awhile ago but keep in mind I restored the whole car and had only charged him about $10K in labour so it was a major hit for me. However, like I said...he's happy, we're still in contact to this day and I know where he'll come if he wants another car restored....
I think Danny should just man-up, if nothing more then to make you happy and keep a healthy reputation for himself if he plans to stay in this hobby.
